Gourmetteria

In Padua, a deli shop and bistro that's a paradise for Venetian products

Gourmetteria (PD) — Veneto Secrets

In front of Palazzo Zabarella in Padua, Daniele Bovolato has created a bistro of wonders that interprets his personal "Arch of tastes" with the mission to both rediscover and safeguard Veneto's wine & food heritage.

Gourmetteria is both a restaurant and a bar, perfect for a coffee, lunch, drinks, or dinner. It embodies the inner spirit of the traditional Venetian “osterias”, yet projected into the future. A convivial place serving genuine food and drinks at all times.

Gourmetteria is a guarantee with any possible meaning: open seven days a week, from 10 am to midnight, guests can rely on an always smiling and professional team, and, above all, enjoy the use of exceptional raw materials, only of Italian origin. In fact, Daniele has decided to work just with companies and producers who respect both the environment and people’s health; hence, the choice to propose organic products as well as native breeds and local plant varieties in his dishes.

Daniele’s great love, however, remains wine, which is probably why the Gourmetteria cellar is the envy of the best starred restaurants in the world: a precious selection of wines exclusively from native vines and vinified in purity.

The restaurant’s interior, pleasantly pop yet deliciously gourmet, is a collection of the things Daniele loves to surround himself with and collect: vintage objects found at flea markets, tables with real tree trunk bases made by a designer friend, 1960s advertising posters, and many memorabilia.

Gourmetteria is also a concept store gourmand: between the shelves, divided by the Italian regions, there is Daniele’s “hunting booty”: a multitude of products, mainly from small, artisanal producers, that he discovers in his culinary trips around Italy. And if you fancy tasting something, just ask the staff and enjoy it at the table, accompanied by an excellent bread made with organic flour and baked in a wood oven.

The Secret

The old kitchen stove that welcomes guests upon entry is the heart of the restaurant, a symbol of tradition, local cuisine, respect for the environment, and a warmth that comes not from the fire but from those around us.
