Gourmetteria (PD)
In front of Palazzo Zabarella in Padua, Daniele Bovolato has created a bistro of wonders that interprets his personal “Arch of tastes” with the mission to both rediscover and safeguard Veneto’s wine & food heritage. Both a restaurant and a bar, perfect for a coffee, lunch, drinks, or dinner, it embodies the inner spirit of the traditional Venetian “osterias”, yet projected into the future. A convivial place serving genuine food and drinks at all times.
Gourmetteria is a guarantee with any possible meaning: open seven days a week, from 10 am to midnight, guests can rely on an always smiling and professional team, captained in the kitchen by the executive chef Malvin Hoxha, and, above all, enjoy the use of exceptional raw materials, only of Italian origin. In fact, Daniele has decided to work just with companies and producers who respect both the environment and people’s health; hence the choice to propose organic products as well as native breeds and local plant varieties in his dishes.
Above all, Daniele is a passionate wine lover, which is why Gourmetteria’s wine cellar outclasses even the ones of the best-starred restaurants in the world. It includes a fine selection of wines, mainly obtained from native vineyards and produced from a single type of grape (wines in purity or single-vineyard wines).
Gourmetteria is also a concept store gourmand: between the shelves, divided by the Italian regions, there is Daniele’s “hunting booty”: a multitude of products, mainly from small, artisanal producers, that he discovers in his culinary trips around Italy. And if you fancy tasting something, just ask the staff and enjoy it at the table, accompanied by an excellent bread made with organic flour and baked in a wood oven.
The Secret
The menu offers an incredible selection of Venetian street food – from buns made with cornflour and seasoned with regional specialties to hamburgers, including vegetarian and vegan choices – as well as a good variety of classic evergreens, from Venetian baccalà to homemade gnocchi.
Driven by his passion for Veneto’s culinary culture, Daniele has also produced the first Kosher line of Made in Italy products, Ghetto Veneziano, that can be found at Gourmetteria, in order to promote the knowledge of the Venetian cuisine among the international Jewish community.
