Villa 61 Maison de Campagne

At the foot of the Dolomites, a country house that combines the charm of France with the scents of the mountains

Villa 61 Maison de Campagne (BL) — Veneto Secrets

Villa 61 is the result of a magical alchemy between the bucolic countryside at the foot of the Dolomites mountains, UNESCO World Heritage, and a French lady with a passion for interior design, cooking, and the art of true hospitality.

In Limana, famous for being the town of honey, in 2011 Eleonore and Massimo, after two years of research, found the perfect place to create their Maison de Campagne: a 19th century stone farmhouse with a wonderful 180° view on the most famous northern Italian Alps, a romantic flower garden and, all around, the peace of the most generous Veneto countryside.

While the architectural restoration was carried out using green building techniques, using only natural materials like clay, stone, and wood to ensure the rooms are as healthy as possible, the rustic charm of the interior design is inspired by giving a second life to forgotten objects, each rich with a story to tell.

The furnishings are original and refined: from the pastel-colored vintage balconies decorating the walls of the breakfast room to the wrought-iron furniture, from the glass doors to the beautiful 1930s cement tiles that Eleonore and Massimo found in Val Tidone from a master restorer of this type of flooring, to the chic white ceramic and black Bakelite light switches sourced from Germany. Every detail is the result of extensive research in Europe’s finest antique markets, such as the one in Piazzola sul Brenta, in Veneto. Throughout, an unmistakable French touch pervades, such as the pampilles, delightful crystal lights, or the textiles with floral decorations reminiscent of the nuances of Provence.

And if you think the beauty of the design is Villa 61’s main attraction, you haven’t yet tried breakfast: a true event. It’s precisely during this time of day that Eleonore will pamper you with an incredible variety of homemade cakes made with seasonal fruit, artisanal bread, delicious granola, and homemade jams, yogurt from the Sedico dairy (the kind with cream found only in the mountains) to enjoy with Limana honey or with Speculoos cream, made with spiced biscuits. And, of course, Villa 61’s delicious croissants and pain au chocolat, which “must taste of butter and France,” as Eleonore says, are a must.

And as if breakfast with a view of the Dolomites wasn’t enough, you’ll often find deer frolicking in the garden, drawn to the villa’s orchard. The two romantic rooms are designed to offer maximum “natural” comfort, with Dorelan mattresses and bed bases, duvets made from Genuine Dolomite Down, and natural toiletries based on essential oils. Many new features are coming, including the creation of additional rooms in the former barn, the opening of a small spa area in the pigsty, and, given the success of breakfast, a home-cooked meal service upon request.

Many events and creative workshops are also organized here, primarily on weekends. From ceramics classes to calligraphy, photography to décor, Villa 61 is undoubtedly a place dedicated to beauty in all its forms.

Book a room and ask for the special sweet&savory brunch (upon request) to taste the very best of the Dolomites products: organic homemade honey, yogurt, granola, jams, bread, cakes…to be enjoyed in the company of roe deers and little squirrels that run free in the garden.
This is undoubtedly the perfect place to discover the beauties hidden in this area: after the lovely home-made breakfast, just follow Eleonore’s tips and you won’t be disappointed.

The Secret

Eleonore and Massimo have kept and restored many of the original furnishings that had been left in the farmhouse. The ancient entrance door, for example, is today the door of the Lumière room. After being enriched with an original wrought-iron decoration found in a flea market, it was chosen to become the logo of Villa 61, a tribute to the past and a lucky charm for the future.
