In Cannaregio, along one of Venice's most beloved and vibrant canals, Sullaluna is a small bookshop and bistro with a bohemian soul.
Run by Francesca and Rodolfo, winemakers and avid book, illustration, and nature enthusiasts, Sullaluna exudes a retro charm: from the ancient beams to the original flooring, every architectural element has been brought back to life by removing layers of plasterboard that covered it in its previous lives.
Dozens of colorful book covers, displayed like veritable paintings, artist monographs, fairy tales, and stories, provide a splendid backdrop to a décor of vintage details and centerpieces of aromatic herbs placed on reclaimed wooden tables.

The beautiful natural Marmorino bar counter emphasizes the antique feel of the space, further enhanced by the industrial glass and steel wall separating the kitchen from the customer areas.
On their farm in Refrontolo, a small town nestled among vineyards in the Treviso area, Francesca and Rodolfo produce an organic Prosecco DOCG called “Lunatico,” in honor of the star, celebrated by artists and poets, which influences every form of life on the planet. This small production, made from a restored ancient grape variety, is carried out with the utmost respect for the land, biodiversity, and the “conscious” viticulture techniques passed down from generation to generation.

This care and meticulous attention to detail is also reflected in the products offered at the bistro, which are strictly organic and sourced from small, top-quality producers. From handmade desserts to fruit juices, including an excellent Trentino cider, and herbal teas and infusions for a special breakfast or afternoon break.
Of course, there’s also a good selection of craft beers and organic wines, both red and white, to complement the cheeseboards, wood-fired bread, and the vegetarian dishes on the menu.
On nice days, you can sit along the romantic banks of the Rio della Misericordia, choosing a sunny table and letting yourself be pampered by the gentle rhythms of the world’s most beloved lagoon city.
The Secret
In the vineyard where Lunatico is born, the willow branches used to tie the shoots are cut only on days when the moon is “thin,” so as not to damage the plant or rot the “stroppe” or ties. Even the acacia trees used to make the vine support poles are cut when the moon is favorable to ensure they last several decades.
