Immersed in a romantic atmosphere of times gone by, between the sea and the lagoon, Locanda alle Porte 1632, a seafood restaurant and hotel, maintains the authentic charm of 17th-century Jesolo intact.

The historic inn is located on the only island of Jesolo, accessible by a small bridge; a tiny strip of land surrounded by picturesque fishing canals.

The island was founded by the Flemish art dealer Daniel Nijs, who lived for a long time in the lands of the Republic of Venice and who 400 years ago built the important navigation routes that today connect the Sile River to the lagoon to facilitate his tobacco trade.

The island was purchased in 1686 by the German physician Johann Matthäus Albrecht to cultivate roscano, a plant used at the time to make glass and soap.

The site later became the customs house of the Venetian Republic’s water authority. Used as a private residence until the 1960s, the inn has returned to its former glory under its current management and it is now part of the Association of Historic Places of Italy.

The restaurant’s menu features fresh seafood and offers a selection of recipes and unique dishes that reflect the most authentic lagoon tradition: from creamed cod to shrimp in saor, marinated anchovies to fried sardines, and first courses like classic spaghetti with “pevarasse” (small, flavorful local clams) or fresh pasta ravioli stuffed with fish.

The wine list features primarily whites, both local and national, with labels ranging from sparkling wines, including Dourdon Vieillard and Trento DOC, to Pinot Noir from Oltrepò Pavese and fragrant Sicilian whites, as well as local specialties.

The Locanda, open year-round, offers dining in the small wine bar in the winter, the oldest part of the house with exposed brickwork and original beams. In summer, guests dine under the pergola, immersed in the tranquility of the lagoon. Arrive early to enjoy the spectacular sunset over the canals.
Surrounded by beautiful cycling paths, it’s the perfect place for a break after a bike ride, for a dinner for two, or for an aperitif featuring typical products.

The Secret

At the entrance, you can still see the stone stele from 1632 with the tariff of the duties that the boats were required to pay to cross the ancient customs and which gives the name to the Locanda.
