In Cavallino-Treporti, an original greenhouse hosts a restaurant, cocktail bar and shop that offer all the flavours of that magical strip of land suspended between Jesolo and Venice, famous for its pristine vegetable gardens and extraordinary sunsets, where you can enjoy authentic gastronomic experiences that celebrate the territory.

That MangiaStorie embodies a great dream is clear as you arrive in the heart of Cavallino-Treporti and you see before you an iron-glass building with enormous windows that reflect, on one side, the garden that surrounds it and, on the other, green walls covered with aerial photographs of the lagoon that characterizes the small town near Jesolo.

The idea of ​​creating a place that could tell “a story in every dish”, hence the name, was born from the desire of Stefano Enzo, a local entrepreneur active in the tourism services sector, to generate value for his land, Cavallino-Treporti, a fertile peninsula full of vegetable gardens, sandbanks, and fishing valleys that gives life to extraordinary products.

Our research starts from the desire to create a simple and genuine offer, which valorises the small, courageous and determined producers who share our vision.

From the agricultural vocation of this territory, Stefano imagined, designing it himself, a building that would recall in its shape a greenhouse divided into various spaces to be lived at any time of the day, from the bar to the restaurant, from the outdoor area for aperitifs, to the spaces for private events and tastings.

His team is also “Made in Cavallino-Treporti”, first and foremost the chef Cristian Angiolin who left his last experience at the Locanda Cipriani in Torcello to return home, and the restaurant manager Alberto Pizziol who coordinates the various souls of MangiaStorie, inaugurated in May 2024.

Each dish reflects the precise desire to offer an authentic experience farm-to-table and is therefore “built” around fresh, simple and genuine raw materials, which tell stories of fishermen, breeders and farmers who have chosen to talk about themselves through their products. This philosophy has also led to the creation of a vegetable garden in Punta Sabbioni where delicious artichokes are produced exclusively for MangiaStorie.

The interior design project also speaks of the territory, from the reclaimed wood tables to the shelves full of picnic baskets and many local specialties that can also be purchased.

MangiaStorie is, in fact, also a deli shop that offers many products selected with care and passion among the best of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia in particular. The wine list also follows the same philosophy, with mainly local labels, especially from wineries that follow an artisanal approach to winemaking.

Everything is homemade, from the pasta – rigorously rolled out by hand with the vintage hand-cranked pasta maker purchased by Cristian – to the desserts, while the delicious bread, served hot, is produced for MangiaStorie by a local bakery.

The appetizers are delicious, also in gourment tapas version, such as the Antipasto MangiaStorie, five tapas that tell the story of the territory in a single dish, the creamed cod or the scallops au gratin. Among the fish first courses, a must-try are the Tagliardi of fresh pasta with lobster sauce and sandbank honey or the Gnocchetti made in house with prawn tails and sautéed artichokes, while among the second courses we find the great Venetian classics such as the Mixed fried fish, the Grilled shellfish or the Filetto di San Pietro with artichoke sauce and flaky potatoes.

Mangiastorie is a meeting place where many initiatives are organized, from the Diario del Gusto, a monthly event with a tasting menu dedicated each time to a different ingredient, StappaStorie, a series of meetings with producers and experts in the wine sector, and the InSerra events, including evening aperitifs with music, magical at sunset.

On the other hand, a few kilometers from MangiaStorie is the small village of Lio Piccolo with its magnificent promenade and panoramic cycle path that offer one of the most extraordinary sunsets in Italy, suspended between the sandbanks and the skyline of Venice on the horizon.

The Secret

The idea to create MangiaStorie came to Stefano while he was in Oxford in a restaurant set up inside an old greenhouse, a perfect idea to enhance the agricultural history of Cavallino-Treporti.
