Locanda Marinelli, located in Farra di Soligo, is one of those lovely family-owned restaurants that really care about quality as well as pampering its clientele. Nestled on the Prosecco Hills, which has recently become a UNESCO heritage site, it is just the perfect starting point to discover the hidden wonders of this area, including charming wineries, bike-friendly itineraries, and lush landscapes.
The restaurant is run by the Marinelli family, restaurateurs since 1905, a tradition continued today by Elena, her husband Piero and their daughter Federica who carefully select the best raw materials to be used in the kitchen. As they proudly explain: “all the vegetables are produced in our garden; we prepare everything fresh every morning to offer the best traditional dishes to our guests”.
Elena, who runs the kitchen together with Marco and Lara, prepares dishes based on the best land and sea products of the region with a contemporary twist like linguine with cheese, pepper, shrimps and fried bread or veal cheek braised in red wine on lemon-scented mashed potatoes, celeriac cream and pomegranate juice.
Always impeccable the service orchestrated with professionalism and sympathy by Piero who loves to entertain his guests with the stories of the native wines and of the many typical products of “his” lands.
The interior design is very welcoming, dominated by the red color typical of the Venetian rural environments that you can find in the seats, in the textiles as well as in the refined hand-made decorations. The rooster, the symbol of the Locanda, is also everywhere, from embroideries to works of art.
In summer, you can eat on the terrace overlooking the hills and the romantic church of San Vigilio, one of the oldest in the area, overlooking the surrounding valley.
Piero and Elena, after a short interval as retirees, preferred to return to their true passion: being innkeepers, carrying on the family traditions with a great love for things done well just like it used to be.
