Who would have thought that this small town, gateway to the Belluno Dolomites just 40 minutes from Cortina, would hide a tabià, a traditional wooden barn, which seems to have come out of a fairy tale or, better yet, from a painting given that the birthplace of the great Titian is located almost opposite?

A dream that Olga and Fabio realized in 2021 after completing the long restoration of Fabio’s grandfather’s tabià, preserving all its typical characteristics, and, thanks to the couple’s passion for carpentry and interior decoration, creating almost all the furnishings by hand, from the headboards to the tables, with beautiful antique wood recovered from other old barns in the area.

This is why, as soon as you arrive at Il Tabià, from the wooden sign to the door decorated with garlands of mountain flowers, everything smells of the warmth of home with the magical touch of those who have lived among these mountains all their lives and want, through the art of hospitality, making the lucky guests experience the best that this area has to offer.

Starting from breakfast which, as we know, especially at high altitude, must be the most important meal of the day. Thanks to the passion of Fabio for cooking, an excellent pastry chef, and of Olga for refined mise en places, every morning at Tabià a real ritual takes place made of cured meats and smoked speck handcrafted specifically for the B&B, mountain cheeses, homemade yoghurt, pollen and honey from the area, but above all exceptional cakes prepared fresh every day.

Not just brioches and tarts but true masterpieces of pastry art based on Petra flours and mountain butter, ranging from sacher to strudel, from meringues to cheesecake with freshly picked berries, according to the chef’s creativity!

A treat that becomes even more special on the occasion of special holidays, such as Halloween or Valentine’s Day when Il Tabià “dresses up” and the beautiful breakfast room is a riot of heart-shaped sweets, ghosts, or pumpkins…In fact, Olga and Fabio enjoy satisfying even the most particular requests of their guests, such as cakes decorated with phrases and dedications, baths with bubbles and rose petals, and any type of personalized arrangement.

The 3 rooms, with the typical mood of mountain huts, are, in fact, perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing weekend: Genziana, junior suite with stand-alone tub and terrace with panoramic views of the mountains, Primula with a suggestive mezzanine decorated with flowers and baskets, and Bucaneve with a third bed which can be reached by climbing a picturesque wooden staircase.
In all of them, there will always be fresh flowers, heart-shaped chocolates and Prosecco to welcome you for a special toast.

In summer, you can also take advantage of the large garden where you can sunbathe, prepare a barbecue or book a snack or aperitif in the typical gazebo based on platters of cold cuts, cheeses and local wines or beers (in winter served in the breakfast room). And if, instead, you prefer to explore the nearby woods, Olga can prepare the beautiful Tabià basket for you, perfect for a picnic surrounded by nature.

And then there is Titian’s House, now a museum that can be visited, the Dolomite Cycle Path, to reach Austria or Venice, nearby Misurina and the dream panoramas of the Dolomites.
On the other hand, after breakfast at Il Tabià, you have the right energy to experience any adventure!

The Secret

Near Il Tabià, in the Roccolo Park, there is a panoramic terrace “suspended in the air” from which you can enjoy a truly wonderful view of Lake Centro and the Dolomites.
