In Guia, set among the splendid UNESCO Prosecco Hills, a small stone farmhouse bulwark of ancient traditions, such as the aperitif under the pergola or the picnic with a vintage basket in the vineyard.
To get to Frasca Marchet you have to ford a small stream. It does not matter if it is a few centimeters deep: the sensation is that of entering another world, where time has stopped and the hills of Guia, where the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG wines are born, are still cultivated by hand with ancient methods like in the old times.
The old Frasca, named after the typical rural wine shops that were built under the “frasche” (tree branches in local dialect), stands against the steep banks where the rows of vines are cultivated and its centenary memory is lost in the mists of time when the children of the village used to go up there to play and have a snack.
It gives me joy to be able to make our guests feel the same sense of freedom and nature that I enjoyed as a child when I used to play around here together with his brother Davide.
(Alberto De Stefani)
Among those children, there were also the brothers De Stefani, grandsons of the historic butcher of Guia, Giuseppe, who, with his wife Bernardetta, in the 1980s decided to buy the building and the surrounding land for their animals. The name is a tribute to this wonderful modern fairy tale as “Marchet”, little Marco in the Venetian dialect, was the previous owner of the Frasca.
The family grows, the Terra di Guia farm, which produces an excellent Valdobbiadene DOCG wine, is born, and Alberto, Giuseppe’s nephew, one day while he was working at the Frasca, then used as a tool shed, stops to look at its old wooden door remembering his happy childhood. Why not let other people relive these emotions as well?
So in 2020, together with his family and in particular his mother Francesca, Frasca Marchet opens to the public, with the desire to let guests experience the excitement of the peasant life of the past. Nothing has changed within its walls: inside there is still the manger for the animals, the tools to work in the vineyard, the beautiful wooden table that grandad Giuseppe used in his butcher’s shop (you can still see the knife cuts) and the counter of the bar is made with the trunk of a tree fallen in the nearby wood.
On the menu, you will find exclusively the “family” products, the Prosecco DOCG in seven varieties, the delicious artisanal cured meats, as well as mountain cheeses and local delicacies. The wonder is where you can taste them! If in the cold months you can take refuge inside the Frasca, in the summer you are spoiled for choice between the benches under the umbrellas in the garden, the deck chairs on the banks, or the tables between the rows of vines, obviously, all blessed with a spectacular view on the surrounding hills.
But the best experience is to order, Saturday and Sunday also upon arrival, the picnic basket, a vintage wicker one with red and white checkered placemat that will be provided fully equipped with a blanket, to relax on the lawn, drinks, homemade bread, cold cuts and cheeses. Unmissable and unique!

The Secret
The Guia area, now a tourist destination, has witnessed two world wars: many caves used as trenches between 1915 and 1918 have been found all around the Frasca.
