Casale Caldesòra (TV)
On top of the hill of San Lorenzo di Montagna, immersed in a landscape that seems a painter’s artwork, the 17th-century farmhouse combines the charm of the Venetian countryside with the artistic and decorative traditions of the oriental merchant routes of the Serenissima Republic of Venice to which these hills owe centuries of peace and prosperity.
The beautiful estate was initially purchased to create the winery, located just in front of the Casale, where today Col Tamarìe, an organic white wine refermented in the bottle, is born. Three years ago the decision to entrust the restoration of the farmhouse to Silvio Stefani, the eclectic architect of the Rosa Rosae, basing the project on the total conservation of the place and its original finishes. In fact, the Casale preserves all its ancient charm intact, from the wooden staircase to the exposed stone walls up to the wonderful original fireplaces.
Opened in 2019, Casale Caldesòra today is an agriturismo that offers six beautifully decorated rooms and a kitchen with a panoramic greenhouse for refined gourmet breaks. The house is furnished with refined unique pieces and by taking inspiration from the Venetian rural tradition as well as from the towns overlooking the Mediterranean sea and their Byzantine traditions.
Thus, if in the rooms the warm boiserie is in recycled cherry wood and the walls are decorated with devotional ex-votos collected in local markets, the bathrooms remind of the Moroccan hammams and the kitchen ceramics come directly from Nicola Fasano in Puglia.
The details are designed to ensure the maximum comfort to be fully experienced as a “home away from home”, from sheets by Society to the eco-friendly amenities. Every awakening is magical, with a view of the magnificent garden full of figs, lemons, and flowers, and enlivened by the silence interrupted only by the company of the many wild animals that peep into the Estate, from foxes to roe deers.
And in the morning, for breakfast, get ready for all sorts of vegetarian homemade delights prepared with organic local products. The best of Veneto is, quite simply, all here.
The Secret
In the estate, the vines were already cultivated 200 years ago: during the restoration of the vineyards, in fact, some indigenous vines were found as well as a stone well – which you can see at the entrance of the farmhouse – which still supplies with water the structure.
