Caffè in Cucina (TV)
In Villorba, on the outskirts of Treviso, one of those rare osteria inspired by tradition that combine, between recycled furniture and homemade pasta, an excellent cuisine with the contemporary atmosphere of a refined wine bar.
Caffè in Cucina is the “home” of Michele Mion, a passionate host, and his wife Giorgia Scomparin who wanted to create a place where you can eat very well, just like in the taverns of the past, and drink just as well thanks to a well-stocked wine shop looked after by the sommelier Gianluigi Orlando.
Opened in 2017, Caffè in Cucina combines the botanical atmosphere of international cocktail bars with local tradition, thanks to a decor created together with La Centrale Interni design studio. In homage to the rustic kitchens of the past, the interior designer Alberto Colbertaldo has, in fact, restored original furniture and unique pieces from the early 1900s, starting from a research carried out in abandoned villas and factories in the Venetian countryside.
The name and the decor bring us back to the warmth of home, to carefully prepared dishes and a good glass of wine chosen from the many labels in our wine shop.

Thus, the large iron window at the entrance that divides the bar area from the restaurant comes from a spinning mill in Vittorio Veneto, the chairs from an old school, the wooden tables from ancient farmhouses, while the bar counter was covered with floorboards from attics of Lower Polesine cottages. On the walls and ceiling, household objects characterize the environment, such as vintage sets of colorful plates and wooden cutting boards, which mix with the many fresh plants and flowers that warm up the room.
In the kitchen, we find chef Alessio Trevisiol, a guarantee of taste and lightness who won many hearts as sous chef at Basilico Tredici in Treviso and then at Alchèmia and Colonia Agricola. On the menu, there are dishes inspired by traditional cuisine with some international incursions: from homemade pasta courses, such as gnocchi with rabbit and thyme ragu, to meats and fish of festive days, such as the cod slice with chicory and purple potato or the Limousine steak, up to vegetarian recipes such as chickpea meatballs.
Caffè in Cucina is also a wine shop and offers a selection of about 250 labels with a preference for natural wines, wineries of the territory, such as Prosecco col fondo, as well as artisanal French wines and champagnes, which can also be purchased to take away.
From Monday to Friday, Caffè in Cucina opens from breakfast until 9pm for those who wish to have an informal dinner or an aperitif based on tapas made from noble ingredients such as Patanegra lard, grilled cooked meat with fresh horseradish, Scottona tartare, and Cantabrian anchovies with butter and croutons. Also perfect for business lunches, every Saturday it offers its famous à la carte brunch from 11am to 2pm with the most popular recipes of this weekend ritual, from pancakes to the Scottona hamburger.
On Friday and Saturday, Caffè in Cucina also remains open for dinner, with a more structured menu for those who want to enjoy a long gastronomic night.
The ideal experience? Book the table for 4 in the wine shop’s corner and start off with an aperitif based on artisan gin or vermouth followed by dinner, letting Michele, an attentive host always present in his restaurant, recommend some special wines.
The Secret
The original wall at the back of the main room, made up of old wooden doors and windows, was designed by Alberto Colbertaldo after visiting the sixteenth-century abbey where Florentine antique dealers had stored the furniture damaged by the flood of the Arno river.
