Located in the medieval village of Arquà Petrarca, immersed in the romantic atmosphere of the Euganean Hills, Quella Casa ad Arquà is a chic retreat with a unique format, where you can organize dinners and events combining fine dining flavors with the warmth of home.
Romantically located between the ancient houses, alleys and old stone walls that characterized the center of Arquà Petrarca, Quella Casa ad Arquà is both a home cooking project and original space for events, born in 2021 from an idea of Donatella Brunello, founder, together with her husband, of the furniture company True Design.
Keeping intact all the historical charm of this enchanted medieval village that counts among its illustrious citizens the famous Italian poet Francesco Petrarca, Quella Casa ad Arquà was born from the conservative restoration of an ancient residence that has given life to a space that maintains the flavor of “home” while offering versatile multifunctional spaces.
Three dining rooms, two lounges, a welcoming professional kitchen and a wonderful summer déhor make it an open and dynamic location perfect to be booked for events of all kinds: from tastings to cooking lessons, from romantic dinners to any kind of party. Just ask Donatella and she will be able to create the perfect experience for you.
In everything I do I always try to create beauty for my guests, since being surrounded by it helps to live in harmony, to feel good.
(Donatella Brunello)
The interior has been designed with great taste by Donatella herself who has chosen design pieces and original custom-designed components, such as the kitchen overlooking the courtyard, the realm of the chefs she selects according to the type of event to be organized. All the furnishings, including the lamps and accessories that decorate Quella Casa in Arquà, can be purchased on request, transforming the space into a real showcase for design brands, artisans and companies specializing in home décor. Among the collabs, let’s mention the beautiful designed lamps by Parisotto and Formenton and produced by Art & Solving, the appliances supplied by Frigo2000, the Kuda accessories, the ceramics from the Dianin laboratory and the True Design furniture.
For events and dinners, Donatella relies on special “Michelin-starred” collaborations such as the one with chef Simone Camellini, who also collaborates with the Alajmo group as well as the fine dining restaurants Incàlmo in Este and Lazzaro1915 in Pontelongo in order to offer her guests culinary experiences of the highest quality.
In addition to home cooking events, Quella Casa ad Arquà also offers the possibility of organizing cooking classes and team buildings with the most diverse focuses: from baking to foraging, up to pasta homemaking. For each event, on request, a special set-up is studied and created, always different and inspired by the seasons, creating tables with an exquisite taste that surprises for elegance and attention to detail.
Hidden in the back of the house, just like a “secret” paradise, there is one of Donatella’s most loved spaces: a garden of wonders that hosts countless species of native aromatic plants, including rare ones, such as the Ruta Patavina, various types of thyme and basil, and ancient flowers, such as zinnias and some varieties of roses.
This is a tribute to the love that Francesco Petrarca himself had for gardens and flowers, where Donatella loves to recover the species most dear to the poet, organizing ad hoc events to make them known to the public.
The Secret
At the time of purchase, the house was completely covered with a partition and divided into small rooms. Once the cover was removed, the old stone walls of the original building emerged and were brought to new splendor thanks to a conservative restoration. The central portion of the house was already featured in antique photos of the area, thus probably dating back to between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
