Palazzina Sardi

The new boutique hotel in San Marco

A new boutique hotel has opened in Venice, housed in a neo-Gothic building designed by the famous architect Giovanni Sardi. Restored in 2024 in the name of contemporary Made in Venice design, the structure offers romantic “secret” spaces, from the internal courtyard to the roof terrace with a view of the Bell Tower of San Marco.

You don’t get to Palazzina Sardi by chance, nestled in Fondamenta del Vin, in front of a small canal where gondolas slowly glide by. Far from everything and everyone, yet very close to San Marco and Riva degli Schiavoni, it is the only recently renovated boutique hotel in the area.

Guardian of an important history, the building was built between 1910 and 1913 based on a project by architect Giovanni Sardi, one of the most illustrious exponents of Venetian neo-Gothic, famous for having designed, among others, the Hotel Excelsior at the Lido di Venezia and the Cinema Teatro Italia.

When we arrive in this unusual city, we invariably contemplate it with prejudiced and enraptured eyes, we look at it with our dreams.

(Guy de Maupassant)

The flagship of a family of hoteliers that already has several structures in the Lagoon city, the restoration of the palace has resumed the style of architect Sardi also in the interior design, skillfully combining Gothic and Byzantine elements. It reinterprets them with a contemporary vibe and touches of proud Venetianness, as seen in the Murano chandeliers and the paintings on the walls by local artists.

The Eight rooms are each different from the other, such as the Junior Suite Minerva which stands out with for the beautiful frescoed ceiling or the Deluxe Superior with exposed beams and red damasks.

Palazzina Sardi, at the complete disposal of its guests, holds two “secret” spaces: the internal courtyard and the altana, a typical Venetian terrace built with wooden planks above the roof.

Two real gems where you can relax with an aperitif and, in particular in the case of the altana, enjoy a wonderful view of the city that ranges from the Lagoon to the Bell Tower of San Marco.

Both spaces, as well as the entire hotel, can be privatized, not only for aperitifs, but also for events or special dinners.

Breakfast is served in the living room, in the courtyard or on request in your room, to experience it as a moment of true relaxation pampered by the impeccable hotel staff, ready to satisfy your every desire.

Palazzina Sardi is one of the best ways to experience the Lagoon according to its “slow” rhythms and immersed in a discreet and refined Venetian style.

The Secret

Even the Palazzina Sardi logo, featured on all amenities and tableware, is a tribute to the hotel’s typical neo-gothic windows, the characteristic mullioned windows that have become one of the symbols of Venice in the world.
