One of the most romantic restaurants in Venice, Hostaria Castello conquers all thanks to the delicious cuisine, a décor with an Ottoman charm and its mysterious blue door.
Opened in August 2021, in the Castello district, a few steps from the Arsenale, the small osteria immediately stood out in the panorama of the lagoon food and wine firmament both for the quality of its cuisine and for the beauty of the interior design inspired by the Ottoman Venice.
In fact, located in the spaces of a former agency that sold the legendary trips of the Orient Express, the rooms of Hostaria Castello, thanks to the collaboration with Michela Amadio and Claudet Navarro, the team that took care of the interior design, and Irregolare Design that created all the lights, take us back to the atmosphere of the most famous train in the world, between the Paris to Constantinople’s route.
Our cuisine combines the Venetian tradition with the great inventions of Italian gourmet firmament, just within everyone’s reach.
From the sofa in blue capitonné velvet to the floor with Byzantine decoration, from the dark wood furniture to the accents in papilles, the very intimate setting is reminiscent, in terms of colors and shapes, of the Ottoman cafes of the turn of the century.
In the kitchen, divided from the restaurant by an original wooden French door that looks like that of an ancient sailing ship of the Serenissima, a young brigade interpretes a menu built by 4 hands together with the starred chef Luca Veritti.
The philosophy of the restaurant enhances the main recipes of the Venetian tradition with gourmet forays. Great care is taken in the choice of raw materials selected from local suppliers, giving priority to the freshness of the ingredients and to the enhancement of small productions. For this reason, the menu often varies, offering a limited number of dishes to ensure that the kitchen creates express every course, favoring a direct dialogue between the chef, the dining room staff and the customers.
Among the recipes on the menu to be tasted absolutely, we find the Seared octopus with potato foam and Taggiasca olives powder, the beautiful Caprese salad. Vine tomatoes with a burrata soft heart and basil sauce, the delicious Potatoes cappuccino, cuttlefish in its ink and bitter cocoa powder, and Our special eggplant parmigiana, among the vegetarian options. To finish with the Soft chocolate pie with passion fruit sauce accompanied by a glass of Venetian or Franciacorta bubbles.
The wine list is extensive, pointing to great labels from important vintages and young local vineyards, such as the house wine produced for Hostaria Castello by the Italo Cescon winery.
Thanks to a pleasantly international atmosphere, the restaurant is the latest venture of the Ristoranti Veneziani group, at Hostaria Castello you always have the feeling of being “pampered”, just as if you were entering an Orient Express carriage.
The restaurant has already become popular on Instagram for its “blue door” reminiscent of the Arabian one located in Calle de Mezo, between Ruga Giuffa and Fondamenta San Severo, one of the most photographed in the world.
