In Asiago, the "Sporting" has been transformed by the Zago family into a splendid boutique hotel where, among works of art, panoramic views, and a spa with swimming pool, you can enjoy the warm hospitality of the Altopiano in an ancient Cimbrian-style residence dating back to 1600.

At the Sporting in Asiago, as its regulars affectionately call it, hospitality, familiarity, and tradition have always been “at home”. The hotel, located a few steps from the central Piazza Carli, was born as the private villa of the Colpi family who, owners of several farms and lands, played a leading role in the history of these mountains.

The building, in the typical Cimbrian style, is, in fact, still one of the symbols of the town, with its yellow three-pointed façade and the charming little square with an outdoor terrace. The house was later acquired by the entrepreneur Zini from Arzignano who transformed it into a hotel, the center of the fervent local social life of the 1980s.

When I was young, walking along the Corso, I used to look at the Sporting and think about how majestic it was. For our family, it is a dream come true to have reopened it in the name of the best international hospitality.

(Bruno Zago)

After years of “oblivion” following the death of Zini, in 2015 it was the Zago family, passionate entrepreneurs in the world of hospitality and long-time visitors to these mountains, who brought the Sporting back to its former splendor.

Thanks to a long restoration conducted with the help of architect Sara Fusar Poli, the Hotel reopened in 2019 in the name of art and design, while maintaining the typical warmth of a private residence, under the attentive and caring guidance of the Zago family and the director Chiara Dal Maso, who returned “home” after various international experiences.

The renovation has combined the style of Asiago with the Zago family’s love for Venice and the arts. Many of the style details, such as the carpeting, the handrail of the staircase, and the Murano glass, are unique pieces designed and made by master craftsmen specifically for the Sporting. In the rooms and common areas of the Hotel, there are also various works of art, a project created in collaboration with the Contini Art Gallery which displays works by various artists, such as Carla Tolomeo with her Pontoglio silk velvet seats.

There are 25 rooms, all different from each other and with a terrace and/or mountain view, furnished with precious materials such as wood recovered from ancient farms and inlays of Bisazza mosaics. Among them, the 2 romantic penthouses of 85 square meters with living room, 2 bathrooms and panoramic windows, and the SPA suite with a private SPA inside really stand out.

The Hotel hosts the Casa Sporting restaurant and the American Bar, both open to non-guests of the hotel, with the welcoming guidance of the Food & Beverage Manager Marco Alban, as well as the lounge club Decò on the lower floor.

At the head of the kitchen, we find the young chefs Giulia Sutto and Alessandro Salvadori who, from Caorle to Asiago, have sought out farmers, breeders and fishermen to give life to flavors and ancient gastronomic refinements. The protagonists are the typical products of the Asiago Plateau, from Asiago DOP cheese to alpine butter, up to the organic vegetables of the Bisele farm in Canove di Roana.

The restaurant is open in the evening, and on weekends also for lunch for brunch, while the Bar is open all day, for breakfast, a snack, or a good cocktail, such as the Martini d’Alta Quota made with gin, Capovilla spirits, and mountain pine honey, expertly prepared by bartender Stefano Garbin.

The hotel’s offering is completed by the spa with a heated pool and hydromassage, the largest and most scenic in the area. Also open to non-guests of the hotel upon reservation, you can relax with all sorts of treatments, from revitalizing and toning wellness programs, to the Turkish bath and Finnish sauna, to the Hobepergh hay bath that stimulates blood circulation, metabolism, and strengthens the immune system.

The Sporting world also includes, located right next door, the elegant boutique of fashion designer Fabio Gatto, which offers the Ballantyne collection and other selected brands, where hotel guests can enjoy a dedicated treatment.

Asiago Sporting Hotel & Spa, very central and with private covered parking, is the perfect retreat for a romantic weekend and to discover an area that offers so much from a sporting point of view, both for lovers of downhill skiing and cross-country skiing, as well as cultural and gastronomic (until 23 February 2025 the Le Carceri Museum in Asiago hosts the exhibition Haring, Banksy, Obey: unauthorized freedom).

The Secret

The majestic 3-meter chandelier that descends through the staircase, the work of the famous Master Seguso, was made in Murano glass specifically for the hotel and assembled directly on site piece by piece.
