Among the most beautiful shows in the world are the fireworks that take place in Venice in the San Marco basin on the occasion of the Redeemer's Festival, this year celebrated with a special Gala Dinner on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal of The Gritti Palace.
Among the beautiful terraces of Venice that overlook the Grand Canal and the San Marco basin, that of The Gritti Palace has hit the international headlines for some of the most glamorous parties on the planet.
A tradition that is honored, in particular, on the occasion of the Redeemer’s Festival (Festa del Redentore in Italian), when, every year, on the third weekend of July, all self-respecting Venetians cancel any commitments to celebrate the liberation of the city from the plague in 1577.
If there is anything that can compete in beauty with Venice, it is the reflection of this city on the Grand Canal at sunset.

To celebrate this anniversary, on July 19, 2025, The Gritti Palace is organizing a special evening on the terrace of its restaurant, the Club del Doge, in which chef Alberto Fol will stage a menu that pays homage to the flavors of Veneto, between the lagoon and the mountains.
The evening, starting at 8:30 pm, will begin with a welcome glass of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015, followed by a 7-course menu featuring some of chef Fol’s most famous dishes, such as Raw scallops, apricots, floral salad with raspberry water together with lobster, garden tomato, almonds and oregano and Sea bass caught with a hook, cucumbers and zucchini marinated in sesame and bread miso sauce.
The various courses will be served, in a crescendo, until around midnight, when the famous fireworks will begin in the San Marco basin, considered one of the most beautiful shows in the world.
Once the fireworks display is over, the party will continue with watermelon with vodka for everyone.
Before dinner, to honor the important Redemeer’s Festival, you can cross the votive bridge, which is erected every year for the celebration, and visit the Church of the Santissimo Redentore, built as an ex voto for the end of the plague epidemic that struck the city between 1575 and 1577, where it is tradition to light a candle and admire the basilica decorated for the celebration.
The Secret
The night of the Redeemer is called by Venetians “notte famosissima” (very famous night) and, together with the Carnival and the Historical Regatta, it is the celebration they hold most dear.
