Gio’s Restaurant & Terrace, located inside the 5-star luxury hotel The St. Regis Venice, offers one of the most beautiful views of Venice, thanks to its wonderful terrace overlooking the Basilica della Salute on one side and Punta della Dogana on the other. The iconic building that houses the restaurant, due to its splendid location, was, in fact, one of the first private residences in the mid-19th century (when the hospitality sector was born in Italy) to be transformed into a luxury hotel.
In 1881 it becomes the Grand Hotel Britannia, chosen as a stay in the lagoon city by Claude Monet, who will begin some of his famous paintings here, making the hotel enter the history of art for the “most magnificent views in all of Venice”, as his wife Alice wrote in a letter to his daughter.
